5 essential songs to learn the piano

You want to learn a new song on the piano, but you are stuck. You cannot think of a song that you want to learn. I have put together a list of 5 essential songs for the piano that every player should learn at some point. So if you’re stuck with something to learn, why not consider one of these?

I have chosen three songs for beginners and two for intermediate players so that players of all levels can find something here.

Hey jude

Most of us have heard this classic Beatles song. Opening with simple piano chords, it is one of the best pop songs ever written on the instrument. While the song may seem complex, it is actually not that difficult for beginners who already know some songs. Once you know the chords, deciphering the pattern is not that difficult.

Do not stop believing

Some people see this song as cheesy, I personally like it. This stadium pop rock song was probably the biggest hit from the band Journey. It has been covered by many bands, including the hit television show Glee, and was also used as the outlet for the final episode of the HBO television series, The Soprano’s. The intro is a lot of fun to play and if you can carry a tune while playing the piano, this one is fun to sing too.

November Rain

It’s probably not an easy song for beginners to pick up, but Guns N Roses November Rain was and still is a huge hit for the band and lead pianist Axl Rose. It is a beautiful piano part during the verses and continues throughout the song. You can find versions of this song to play in a simplified version for piano only online.

Let it be

Another great Beatles tune, Let it Be is a staple for all beginners. Like Hey Jude, this song may seem harder to play than it actually is. The chords are pretty straightforward and there aren’t many difficult parts beyond that. You can find the basic piano chords online and then listen to the song a few times to choose the progression by ear.

Bohemian Rhapsody

When you think of this song, you may not see it as a piano tune, however, watch a live performance of this song and you will see Eddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, playing the piano through a good portion. of the song. . There are versions online that you can find that create some simple piano parts to play during the more complex electric guitar parts of the song.

This is another great song to sing and play if you can do it.
