Have a Bar Mitzvah party menu with lots of sweet potato latkes

The Bar Mitzvah party menu can host a balanced mix of traditional Jewish cuisine and some great tasting kid-friendly treats. Baklava is a tasty European dessert made with honey and walnuts, so it should fit the table perfectly. You can also make chocolate baklava for kids. The main dish can be something very simple like meat and cheese rolls or pita with a tasty cucumber sauce. Even the Bar Mitzvah guy would love it, but you can also have a pizza on hand as a backup for picky eaters. Put a twist on traditional latkes by making Sweet Potato Latkes and serving them with a maple syrup or honey sauce. You can make them as a garnish or dessert. Last but not least, add some filling items to your buffet with a tomato salad, macaroni salad, and easy-to-pick items like dried fruit and pretzels.

Making sweet potato latkes for Bar Mitzvah is not that difficult. You need four to six sweet potatoes, depending on the size of your group. Pierce them with a fork and heat them in the microwave or boil them whole until cooked through. Let the potatoes cool. Peel off the outer skins. Blend the rest in a large bowl. If you like, you can add half a cup of milk for a creamier latke to the mix. If not, leave it out. Add a few pats of butter. For sweeter latkes, add a little brown sugar or honey. A little will do. Prepare the burgers with the mixture and put them in the freezer to cool.

In the meantime, you can heat up your griddle or skillet for Bar Mitzvah Latkes. Add a little oil and completely coat the inside of the pan. You can tell it’s hot enough when a drop of water sizzles and evaporates in the pan. Lower the heat a little and place your empanadas in the pan. If you have enough oil and the patties are cold enough, you should be able to get a nice crust without falling apart. Flip the patties after about a minute and brown the other sides. Serve the hot sweet potato latkes with honey for the sauce.

Have fun at your Bar Mitzvah party and eat lots of food!
