How to dress to make your legs look longer

It is possible to create the illusion of longer legs by dressing strategically. Longer legs give the impression that you are taller than you really are. Women who are shorter also tend to have short legs, but with the right length and proportions of clothing, shorter women can appear taller with longer legs.

High waist pants and skirts

High pants and skirts lift your natural waist line and make your legs look longer. Cinch the waist with a belt or scarf to accentuate the waist and make it look smaller. High pants and skirts have been a trend in recent years and come in many styles, fabrics, and colors. Pair high-waisted pants and skirts with a short crop top or tuck a longer top into the high waist. The high waist is made to show off. High-rise pants with flared, straight, or tapered hems look good with high heels. The only drawback of high-waisted pants is that they are not forgiving for women with wide hips and a pear shape. However, high-waisted skirts look good in most ways.

Wear skirts shorts

This is another trend that shows more leg, or should we say almost all of the leg. For those who are comfortable showing leg, try shorter skirts and shorts that cut above the knee. Showing more legs makes your legs appear longer. For skirts, do a bend test to see if the skirt is too revealing. This is done by bending over and looking in a mirror. If the skirt rides up so high in the back that it shows undergarments, the skirt is too short. Wear short skirts with boy’s shorts or boxers to avoid accidents. A full short skirt works well with straight shapes with slim hips of a guy. Most body shapes will look better with a skinny skirt or an elasticated mini skirt that sits at the hips.

wear shorts

Same concept as short skirts, short shorts make the leg look longer simply by showing more leg. Shorts have gotten a bad rap lately for looking casual and inappropriate for the workplace. Sometimes it’s better to save shorts for loungewear, gym clothes, and weekend clothes. But some trends have tried to extend the shorts to the office by creating office shorts. These are shorts that use patterns and fabrics typically reserved for office wear. So you get plaid, striped, and neutral shorts in fabrics like polished cotton, linen, and wool. Wear office shorts with a nice silk blouse and blazer. Go with bare legs or with stockings. Don’t wear long socks.
