Restaurant Flooring – Resinous Flooring Types and Options

Today’s restaurant customer has an excess of choice and a shortage of time and patience. Their loyalty is to the brands and stores that consistently provide the fastest, easiest, and most out of the ordinary experience.

While good food and excellent customer service are crucial to return business, a restaurant’s ambience is also important. You want customers to feel comfortable and enjoy their meals. The design of the restaurant sets the stage for the customer’s dining experience. Loud music, granite tables, and carpeted floors create a completely different vibe than jazz, linen tablecloths, and polished concrete floors. While there are several elements that go into creating a unique atmosphere in a restaurant, the choice of floor covering plays an important role.

Types of resinous flooring for restaurants:

A. Polished Concrete Floors: Whether polishing existing concrete or applying a self-leveling concrete coating, polished concrete floors offer an organic and natural feel to the environment. Polished concrete floors can be stained, stained, or integrally stained. This type of flooring is typically used in restaurant dining areas. Getting a custom look on a restaurant floor is the most important factor. The color scheme, custom logos, creative patterns, wayfinding design, and textures are what attract restaurant owners to choose concrete for their finished surface. There are a variety of custom options that can be applied to concrete restaurant floors.

b. Lumiere Design Epoxy Floor: This type of floor consists of a mixture of designer epoxy resin with integrally colored metallic powder colorants and installed in such a way that each floor becomes a work of art in itself. No two floors can be the same with this type of flooring. Lumiere designer epoxy floors are also used in dining areas. Usually one or two coats of polyurethane coating are applied to protect the surface.

Contra Kwortz, Decorative Quartz Flooring – This type of flooring is a blend of industrial grade epoxy resin and quartz granules applied in two or three coats for a total thickness of 1/8″. Decorative Quartz Flooring can also be installed as a base for moldings, therefore, it is usually applied in kitchens and bathrooms.

d. Polyurethane Concrete Flooring – This type of flooring is a mixture of polyurethane resin, portland cement, and graded aggregates. Polyurethane cement floors are known for their resistance to thermal shock and are therefore very popular in food preparation areas.

A polished concrete floor was recently installed at the Potbelly Sandwich store in New York City.

“Our customers love the new design. And we love it because while the overall effect is cutting-edge design and distinctive styling, the concept is cost-effective to implement, which will be vital to our franchise.” – Gabby Yifrah, Project Manager, Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
