Staying Healthy Prevents Disease: Are You Really Staying Healthy?

Hi everyone, my name is Kyle and I’m going to share with you what I’ve learned about the misperception of living fit instead of living fit.

A year ago, living in shape for me meant going to the gym 3 days a week and working on my arms, legs, chest, the usual. I just went to the gym because it was a masculine thing and a lot of people did it. It also “kept me in shape”, at least I thought so. I began to wonder if I was really living a “healthy” lifestyle during the winter. For the third year in a row I became seriously ill and ended up hospitalized. Some of you may experience the same conditions. All I thought was that I got sick from the cold weather. I didn’t know there were many more reasons why I was hospitalized. For days I would sit on my bed having trouble breathing that I thought was all due to asthma. This turned out to be wrong.

Because I questioned myself, I ended up doing extensive research on what can make people sick in the winter. It ended up being that winter really didn’t have much to do with it. My doctor asked me what he was eating at the time. I told him almost anything which meant a lot of fast food that has very little nutrition. He told me that was the problem. Many health-conscious people know that going to the gym doesn’t mean you’re healthy. Being healthy is more about your diet than anything else. You can’t hit the gym 3 days a week and not limit yourself to the amount of unhealthy food you eat. It turns out that an unhealthy diet will make that time you spent in the gym show nothing. At first I refused to believe that the food I ate made me so sick, but I tried to change to see the difference.

The following year I kept to a strict diet. This meant no McDonalds, Wendys or any other fast food restaurant I could think of. I also ended up buying some workout gear so I could stay home for my workouts to see if it would help keep me out in the cold. Enough said, I came across a website that had reviews of some workout equipment I found and it said that my body would work better with the type of workout provided. I ended up buying two of the kits shown on the website. Buying two was useless because they do the same thing, but I decided to go offline every day. Every day I worked out for about an hour on these machines and decided to see what results I would get. Keep in mind that this is winter again.

The first thing I noticed was that I felt more alive during the winter. Winter was a very slow time for me. I’m not sure if it was seasonal depression or just my body reacting to the food I ate. The next thing I noticed was that over time I was able to spend an hour and a half to two hours on these machines. The last thing I noticed was that I was getting stronger and able to handle more resistance. But the end result was that I didn’t get a single cold that winter. Still doubting my doctor, I just thought I got lucky like some stubborn humans like me would.

Before spreading the word I ended up keeping quiet about this because I didn’t want to look stupid to my peers. I know many other people who get sick every winter just like me and they didn’t want to waste their time with what I thought was a miracle. I decided to try this one more year. The following year I kept the same diet and exercise routine, except I kept working out all year. The following year I had exactly the same results. I was more alive, I was getting stronger and I didn’t get sick. So this is why I’m sharing this with you: to help others who went through the same struggle as me. Try this routine and see if it helps.
