How are Medifast foods and meals stored?

People sometimes ask me how much space is needed for their Medifast foods. Another common concern is whether you need a refrigerator or freezer to keep Medifast meals cool. You really don’t need a lot of space for Medifast meals. In fact, I’ve heard of people keeping them in boxes under their beds. Most prepackaged meals come in small boxes that contain sachets of the food. People sometimes mistakenly assume that smoothies, puddings, or soups need to be refrigerated. they don’t mix them from the dry ingredients that come in bags or boxes. The same goes for brownies, soft serve ice cream, and chili. Now bars and chips, nachos and puffs don’t need to be mixed or built. For them, you just have to open the packaging.

If having enough space for storage is an issue for you, you can always break up the boxes and lay the contents flat. And I even know people who do this not because space is an issue for them, but because they like to space out their meals so preparation is more convenient. For example, I know someone who will separate all their food items and then make a drawer, box, or container for all their milkshakes, brownies, puddings, ice creams, and other similar items. And then there are people who will take this same idea and separate their meals by day. Therefore, they may have a box or drawer marked for each day of the week. And for example, in the Monday drawer you might find 2 shake packs, 1 bar, 1 pancake mix, and 1 chili mix. Or, in the Tuesday drawer you might have a latte, a packet of scrambled eggs, brownie mix, a ready-to-drink milkshake, and cheese puffs. And then other people will take the boxes exactly as they were shipped and put everything in their pantry without sorting anything.

It really comes down to your preferences and how you tend to organize yourself. But the bottom line is that you don’t need a lot of storage space for even a large monthly Medifast package. All foods stack flat and don’t require a lot of space. And to save even more space, you can sometimes split the master carton of each item and just store the bags. For example, 15 bars come in a box. Nothing says you can’t take those bars out of the box and then store them in a bag that lays perfectly flat. And you don’t need refrigeration or freezer unless you want to store leftovers.
