How to make your mattress look like new again

White mattresses can easily get dirty. If it doesn’t clean properly or if you’ve spilled coffee on your bed one too many times before, it probably needs a deep cleaning. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to sleep in a rickety looking bed.

Cleaning your mattress and making it new again shouldn’t be too difficult. Here are some steps on how you can do that:

Step 1: Remove the covers from the bed and wash them. Set your washing machine’s water temperature to warm settings and wash sheets with a mild liquid detergent. Also add fabric conditioner to keep it smelling fresh and clean.

Step 2 – Move your mattress to an open area where you can clean it without clogging. Place it on a clean platform. Prepare your cleaning supplies such as warm water, an empty spray bottle, a small soft-bristled brush, white distilled vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, clean towels, a sponge, and a portable vacuum.

Step 3: Vacuum the mattress first. Make sure the floor is not slippery or the vacuum is not standing in a puddle of water. Dry the area before using the vacuum to avoid mishaps. Plug in the cleaning machine and vacuum all sides of the bed. Be sure to completely remove any accumulated dust and dirt.

Step 4 – Unplug the vacuum and set it aside. Mix a cup of distilled white vinegar and a cup of water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle a bit. Spray the solution all over the mattress. Focus on the stained areas.

If you don’t like using vinegar, you can use lemon juice instead. This will also help remove any unwanted stains. It will also work in disinfecting the bed. Let the cleaning solution sit there for at least an hour.

Step 5: After an hour, take the sponge and soak it in warm water. Drain off excess. Clean the surface of the bed with the sponge. Do not soak the mattress.

Step 6 – Sprinkle baking soda all over the bed. This will also help reduce staining and help make the mattress look whiter and cleaner. Let it sit there for an hour before vacuuming it up.

Step 7 – Let the mattress dry completely before placing it back in your room. Make sure the mattress is dry before putting on the sheets.

Occasionally vacuum your bed to prevent dust mites from building up. Also avoid eating or drinking while on the mattress.
