How to train your cat

Cats are amazing pets with their own unique style. If you have chosen a cat as a pet, you probably already understand that discipling and training it requires special effort. To some degree, you will need to understand and adapt to your pet’s unique personality traits.

Most cat owners are not realistically looking for a circus cat ready to jump through hoops. They will be satisfied if the litter box is used well and the furniture is left intact.

Consequently, it is good to realize that cats learn through experience. This may require the owner to be patient in building a cause and effect pattern. This means that if they experience something good, they are more likely to repeat it. Also, the opposite is true if the encounter was not pleasant. So whatever good behavior is (like scratching on the pet scratching post instead of your furniture), you’ll want to reinforce it with a good reward.

Whether it is good or bad behavior, your cat will learn it through this immediate response method. Delaying a reward or punishment will only confuse her. For example, if a cat is used to being fed every time it bothers you, that will reinforce the behavior. Therefore, it is important to evaluate his actions accordingly.

Training a cat to use the litter box is something that should start when it is young. Keep in mind that cats enjoy a clean litter box. You have to do your part to make it an enjoyable experience. It has been noticed that if the crate is not cleaned regularly, but the rest of the house is, then your pet may head for clean areas away from his crate, such as the edge of a beautiful rug.

With time and careful attention, you’ll find that your pet’s independent nature still allows for a wide variety of moods, from aggressive to playful. A cat will normally enjoy a playful interaction, however, it can quickly change its mind and decide that it has had enough. But as a cat owner, he already knows that, and he’s learning to go with the flow!
