Mindset = be organized

I think we can all agree that we hate clutter. We hate it so much we pretend it doesn’t exist. Sometimes we even hide from the world because we are afraid of what others might think of us because of it. Being disorganized or having a cluttered house, something we hate to admit, is luckily something we can overcome. From experience, all it takes is patience, vulnerability, and an open mind to achieve what we want in our homes and in our lives.

Today I am going to give you 5 simple and modern tips on how to change the way you think so that you can be more organized.

TIP #1: Start Small

For whatever reason, our brains are wired to believe that we MUST complete an entire project at once. Have you ever wondered why none of your tasks or projects get done on time? I bet one of the reasons may be because the project you took on was too BIG to complete and you were so overwhelmed that you couldn’t finish it. Not anymore! By starting small, whether it’s organizing your pen case to complete an important project, you’ll avoid the stress of getting the job done and get it done quickly and on time.

TIP #2: Listen to organize podcasts

One of the best things you can do in the morning or while driving is to stimulate your mind by listening to things that stimulate your mental and physical growth. I have noticed in my own life and others around me that doing so has made a world of positive change in our lives. TIP #3: Create a checklist

This may sound cliché, but task lists really work. of course only if you use them. As I mentioned above, clutter is a bi%#* and to combat it, you’ll need to tackle it head-on in small intervals. Here are 2 examples of how checklists can be effective in helping you stay organized. 1) By using a checklist to plan the tasks you need to do at home after work, it will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed after a stressful day 2) An effective checklist will only have your priority tasks, therefore you will know exactly what must be done to maintain order. Checklists, lists, to-do list, plans, whatever you want to call them, is a habit that needs to be implemented into your life so that getting organized and staying organized can become second nature.

TIP #4: Save the things you really love

Here are some common responses I’ve heard when it comes to this topic:

I love everything in my house and there is no way I can get rid of anything! All my things have a meaning behind them! Here’s a better one. I have spent so much money and haven’t even used it yet! – but it’s been 2 years

These are just a few examples of statements my clients have made to me when I suggest they should only keep the things they really love in their home. Let me explain what this really means. Let’s start with an example. We love our family (our immediate family) and even though we have favorites (wink) we love them so unconditionally that we couldn’t live a day without them. This is the kind of feeling I think you should have for items in your home. You love your pen so much; the mere idea that it is not in your power is total chaos. If you don’t have this feeling towards the items in your home, then it’s probably time to part with them. I would be happy to witness the apartment!

TIP #5: Make it a habit

New studies show that it takes 2-8 months to form a new habit. I know that seems like an unusual amount of time, at least to get organized, but it’s actually great news. The creation of new clothes should not be seen as a single thing and rather be done as a process that will generate a better result. Committing to an organizational system and practicing it thoroughly, even though you may have setbacks, will create a positive mindset and improve your organizational skills.
